someone’s looking *~sumptuous~* in red velvet You know, I remember ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about Théoden from the books (to be fair, I read them all in quick succession over a summer holiday when I was perhaps sixteen and I tended to skim anything that didn’t involve a hobbit), but in the movies I really like him. The only change I’d like to make in his depiction is actually something that Bernard whatshisname talked about in the cast commentary, that when he’s under Saruman’s spell he isn’t wearing proper shoes because he hasn’t been up and out of the house for months, and at his suggestion he just has wrappings of soft leather around his feet. I think he should’ve been wearing slippers. I mean you know something is rotten in the state of Riddermark when the king just sits around in his dressing-gown and slippers growing the nastiest beard and fingernails anyone has ever seen.
